Privacy, in plain words.
What this site collects, why, who handles it, and the choices visitors have. Last updated October 6, 2026.
The short version
- What is collected: an email address, if someone signs up for P4T news, and a name, email address and message, if someone writes through the contact form.
- What it is for: replying, and sending the occasional P4T news. Nothing else.
- Cookies for analytics only, no ads: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity show P4T Media how people find and use the site. In Europe and the UK they run only if the visitor allows them.
- Visitors are in control: opt out of P4T news at any time, or ask for their details to be deleted.
This website, p4tmedia.com, belongs to P4T Media, the communications and media strategy practice of Shai Korman, based in Arlington, Virginia (“P4T Media”). This policy explains what information the site collects, how P4T Media uses it, and the choices visitors have.
1. Information collected
1.1 What visitors give
- P4T news sign-up: a name and an email address, and the page it was sent from.
- Contact form: a name, an email address, an organization if one is given, the chosen topic, the message, whether P4T news was asked for too, and the page it was sent from.
An email sent straight to shai@p4tmedia.com reaches Shai like any other email.
1.2 Collected automatically
Each sign-up and message is saved with the date and time it was sent, and with an approximate location (a city, region and country) that Cloudflare works out from the visitor’s connection. The IP address itself is not saved. The forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks in the background that a person, not a bot, is sending. It doesn’t use cookies for tracking or advertising, and it doesn’t read what is typed. The forms also send how long the page had been open, so posts made faster than a person could type are dropped; that number is not kept.
Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps standard technical records, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect it.
1.3 Cookies and storage in the browser
This site uses no advertising tools. It uses two analytics tools that set cookies, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (sections 1.4 and 1.5). In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, they run only if the visitor chooses “Allow” on the small bar that appears once they start down a page, and the choice can be changed at any time with “Privacy choices” at the foot of every page. Elsewhere, they run during the visit, unless the browser sends Global Privacy Control or the visitor chooses “No thanks” under “Privacy choices”.
The site also remembers a few small things in the browser’s own storage, which never leave the device:
- whether someone signed up for P4T news or closed the sign-up card, so it isn’t offered again too often;
- a draft of a contact message not yet sent, until the tab is closed;
- the privacy choice, once one is made.
These, and any cookies, can be cleared at any time in the browser’s settings.
The interviews on the site play from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, which loads nothing from YouTube until play is pressed. From then on, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.
1.4 Google Analytics
To understand how people find and use the site, P4T Media uses Google Analytics. It shows, in total, how many visits and pages were viewed, how visitors arrived (for example from a search engine or a link), roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the IP address, which Google Analytics doesn’t store), and what kind of device and browser they use. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) that recognize a returning browser for up to two years. It is used for analytics only: its advertising features and Google signals are off. For how Google handles this data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
1.5 Microsoft Clarity
To see how the site works for the people using it, P4T Media uses Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors move through the site (clicks, taps, scrolling) as heatmaps and session replays. What is typed into a form is hidden from it. It uses first- and third-party cookies (such as _clck and _clsk). It is used for analytics only, never for advertising. For how Microsoft handles this data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
2. How it is used
- To reply to messages.
- To send occasional P4T news by email, to those who asked for it.
- To keep the forms free of spam and abuse.
- To understand, in total, how people find and use the site.
- To comply with legal obligations.
P4T Media doesn’t sell personal information and doesn’t use it for advertising.
3. Who handles it
P4T Media shares information only with the service providers that help run the site and its forms:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the spam check.
- Google keeps sign-ups and messages (Google Sheets), delivers each message to Shai by email, and provides Google Analytics.
- Microsoft provides Microsoft Clarity.
These providers may handle information in the United States and other countries. P4T Media may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of P4T Media, its visitors or others.
4. Choices
4.1 P4T news
Every P4T news email says how to opt out; a reply is enough. Writing to shai@p4tmedia.com works too.
4.2 See, correct or delete
Anyone can ask to see the information P4T Media holds about them, correct it, or delete it, by writing to shai@p4tmedia.com.
4.3 Visitors in Europe
P4T news and the analytics cookies rely on consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Replying to messages and keeping the forms free of spam rely on P4T Media’s legitimate interests. Visitors in the EU, the UK and some other places, including California, may also have further rights, such as receiving a copy of their information, objecting to its use, or complaining to their data protection authority.
5. How long it is kept
- Sign-ups: while the person wants P4T news. After an opt-out the emails stop and the address is deleted from the list.
- Messages: as long as needed to reply and keep a record of the conversation, or until the sender asks for them to be deleted.
- Analytics: detailed Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months; Clarity keeps its data for the periods Microsoft sets.
6. Security
P4T Media takes reasonable measures to protect the information it collects from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. No system is completely secure, so absolute security can’t be guaranteed.
7. Children’s privacy
This site isn’t intended for children under 13, and P4T Media doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Anything collected by mistake is deleted.
8. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will appear on this page, with a new date. Questions, or a request about personal information: shai@p4tmedia.com.
