Liner notes
Bear Left was Howie Kislowicz and Shai Korman making music and having fun at McGill University.
They became a steady fixture in Montreal’s folk-rock scene, delivering shows packed with humor, original songs and real charm. They played everywhere, from coffee houses and campus events to bars and house shows, and earned a small, loyal fanbase and plenty of good memories.
They stopped playing live in 2003, but Bear Left’s music is still around. Lots of their songs survive in performances by Howie and Shai’s next band, What Does It Eat, which is still going strong.
What Does It Eat
Lifelong friends and musical partners who put on a high-energy live show and do their best songwriting over the phone.
Former members of Bear Left and vanquishers of the Arcade Fire at a college Battle of the Bands (true-ish story). With a discography stretching back to the late ’90s, Howie and Shai bring their signature quirky brand of humor and a whole lot of heart to their songs.
